In this guide we aim to help you decide on which device to choose when making the switch to electronic cigarettes. It can be a fairly daunting task looking for your first e-cigarette, however we have developed this guide to give you as much knowledge as possible, ensuring your ecig purchase is an informed one.
There are many e-cigarette starter kits available. All you have to do is type vape shops near me on the Internet and voila, it will show you several shops that are accessible and offer wide variety of products for vaping. These are usually reasonably priced and contain everything you will need to begin vaping. There are a number of these options including:
The basic ego starter kit contains a USB Charger, CE4 clearomizer and either a 650mah or 1100mah battery. A CE4 clearomizer is the tank that houses the liquid and the atomizer. They usually have wicks which absorb the e-liquid and pull it into the atomizer which when heated creates the vapour. CE4‚s usually hold around 1.6ml of e-liquid which will usually last you most of the day; depending on how much you use it. The battery is operated with a 5 click system, so 5 clicks on 5 clicks off. A 650mah battery will last you approximately 750 puffs on a single charge. A 1100mah battery will last you approximately 1200 puffs on a single charge. With these kits the only difference between the two is the battery life.
The next option is an Innokin iTaste EP vaping starter kit. This e-cig kit is similar to the ego kits however it contains an iClear clearomizer and a 700mah iTaste ep battery. The Innokin iClear clearomizer is the same as a CE4 just Innokin’s own version of a clearomizer. The 700mah batter will give you approximately 800 puffs to a single charge. These kits are generally longer lasting and more durable than the basic ego kits.
The next option is a 650mah Ego twin kit. This option is great for 2 people wanting to make the change or for heavy smokers who want a backup while their primary device is charging. This kit comes with 2 CE4 clearomizer’s and 2 650mah batteries. This kit comes in a hard-case to store them in complete with 2 free liquids of your choice. This kit is great if you want to vape 2 different flavours at once.
There are many alternatives and more advanced kits however to start with these are a great introduction to the world of vaping. We will cover more advanced devices later on in the guide.
So you have decided on a starting kit and opened it up, now what? We will now discuss how to use and maintain your first e-cigarette, making sure you get the most out of your vape experience.
How do I fill it up?
Filling up you e-cigarette is a fairly simple process and with a bit of practice you will be efficient at it in no time. There are a number of different ways to fill your e-cigarette depending on the cleaormizer or tank being used. However for now we will cover the CE4 style clearomizers and any other top fill tanks. To strart simply unscrew the mouthpiece ensuring the rubber seal is still intact on the mouthpiece when removed. Simply squeeze in you e-liquid down the side ensuring you avoid the air hole in the centre. Fill it up to the last line on the clearomizer for a CE4 this will be the 1.6ml line. Screw in your mouthpiece ensuring not to over tighten as this can snap the mouthpiece. Leave to soak for a minute or two and then take a vape. Here is a handy diagram showing this process:
Can I use a different flavour?
You can use a different flavour in any Clearomizer or tank system. Just simply empty or use up the remainder of the e-liquid and then fill with your desired taste. You may get hints of the original flavour for the first few drags however the new flavour will come through eventually. A quick way to speed this process up is to drag on the e-cigarette without pressing the power button. This simply draws liquid into the atomizer ready to be burned.
It tastes burned / not a lot of smoke is coming out why?
When you get a burned taste this usually can be improved by doing a couple of powerless drags to add liquid to the atomizer, however if this is happening frequently usually this means your atomizer has burned out. Unfortunately these things happen and a atomizer is a degrading part of an e-cigarette. Some clearomizer will let you replace the atomizer itself or others such as standard CE4s will require you to purchase a whole new clearomizer. If you are getting no smoke when in use then chances are your atomizer has died also. To check this hold the power button on as if you were taking a drag and hold to your ear. If you can hear crackling then it is functioning and try the drag method above. If no sound or crackling can be heard then that atomizer is dead.
So you have been using an e-cigarette for a while now and you want to up the performance increasing your satisfaction. Maybe you want a more reliable system or you want more power, there are many ways to go from here. The most important part is E-cigarettes are working for you and your ready to delve deeper.
Atomizers and replaceable coils generally burn out after a period of time however we cannot specify the length of their lifespans, usage is a big factor in this.
There are many Atomizers available and each have their own benefits and drawbacks. If your new to vaping or have a starter kit then chances are you have already experienced a CE4 style clearomizer. The common next step is to progress on to a atomizer with replacable coils. These are handy and cost-effective because they are usually cheaper than buying whole new tanks. A few of the popular replaceable atomizer tanks are:
The Innokin iClear 16 clearomizer is a 1.6ml tank system. It has 4 wicks and delivers a great vape. These clearomizers are popular because they have replaceable atomizers nd they are simple to interchange.
This image shows how the Innokin iClear 16 comes apart. By removing the bottom base you can unscrew the coil and rescrew in your replacement atomizer. The atomizers/coil is only £3.00 so this is a cost effective way to vape.
Another popular clearomizer with a replaceable atomizer is the GSH2. The GSH2 is a bottom fed atomizer and delivers an excellent vape experience. Instead of having wicks which “suck up” the liquid, the bottom fed lets liquid drip onto the small wicks direct to the atomizer. This provides constant wicking and minimises dry hits. The GSH2 is a bottom fill and is a simple unsrew and rescrew the new GSH2 coil in.
The MT3 atomizer is very similar to the GSH2, it is a bottom fill, replaceable atomizer clearomizer / tank. These atomizers generally hold up to 1.6 ml of eliquid and have a solid mouthpiece. The airflow chamber is connected directly to the coil and reduces the chances of leaking. The MT3 takes the same coils as the GSH2 and is a simple unscrew, rescrew the coil system making this an easy beginners replaceable atomizer.
The next step in achieving a better vape experience is upgrading to a better battery. These come in various forms however the most popular are variable voltage batteries. These allow you to adjust the power and the rate at which the atomizer heats up. This gives a significant amount of control as to how warm or cool your vape is and can tailor it to your liking. A few popular choices include:
The ego twist batteries are a great entry into variable voltage vaping. It has a simple dial system allowing you to simply twist to increase or decrease the power. These generally come in 1100 or 1300mah so the charge life of these batteries are pretty good.
